Fed by gravity from a cold-water tank in the loft. Simple, affordable and easy to maintain.
Unvented
Fed straight from the mains. No loft tank, better pressure, quieter and more hygienic.
Direct
Water heated inside the cylinder by an immersion heater. Electric only.
Indirect
Water heated by a coil from your boiler. Usually the cheaper option.

Why is my hot water cylinder not heating?
Check for a tripped switch or incorrect thermostat settings first. If those are fine, an engineer should take a look.
How often should a cylinder be replaced?
Generally every 8–12 years, depending on how well it’s working.
Can I add an unvented cylinder to Homecare?
Yes, for an optional £8 a month, which covers its annual service and maintenance.
